Tabletop RPG sneaking back as a hobby?

I started watching Critical Role again. There was a time where I was watching it with some regularity during their second campaign. While I enjoyed it, circumstances at the time had me fall behind. So much so that I gave up on the idea of catching up.

Now, I'm watching campaign four. I did try to watch the third campaign but it didn't quite stick with me. This campaign have started off very interesting! Another interesting thing that happened as a result of watching this much tabletop RPG (TTRPG) played out is feeling that interest in the hobby swell in myself as well. Not for D&D, but for all the other systems I have collected over the years.

I picked up a Shadowrun 5e bundle. I know 5e isn't the best received of the system but I already had a beginner box from years ago. I'm both excited and nervous about attempting to run a game, since the system gets more and more complex. I dare say it's almost on a wargaming level of complex and detailed, only players control their own character, rather than a whole army.

I wanted to make a podcast where I play solo games. Something like Errant Adventures. In fact, I had the idea because of that podcast! But instead of just Starforged, I wanted to try and solo play through some of the more traditional systems, or settings bound in more traditional TTRPG systems. One I definitely want to try is the Genesys system. I picked up the Android sourcebook, a mix of cyberpunk with some space exploration, if I recall correctly.

We'll see where I do go from here with all that. It would be nice to finally get that off the ground, even if I'm a few years late.
