The terminal (emulator) is a funny thing.
I started an early access game, built with Unreal Engine 5 and unoptimized. Which means it's a resource hog. To the point where I can't really keep Firefox in the background. But the terminal is very lightweight, especially on the GPU. All the fiddling around I do in it every so often in the past years helped remind me that I can still multitask if I really want, especially while waiting out aspects of the game.
What makes the terminal a "funny thing," to me at least, is how it tends to put me in a mood to write. It's not that I have a story that I'm compelled to write, but I do feel that compulsion.
So here I am, starting a new blog on this bare-bones blogging site because I want to post it on something that is text-only browser friendly! The fact that I can eventually export this and host it on my own instance of the software is a very nice plus.
In case anyone is interested in the tools I'm using to view this site, and to write my blog posts:
- lynx - with vim bindings enabled in order to access my external editor.
- helix editor
I'm probably just going to post random stuff in here. Thoughts that I want to put out into the digital void. Maybe I'll put up some short stories, flash fiction, whatever that comes to mind. I know this blogging software doesn't support tagging, but I'll try to make a note of it somewhere if the post is not my usual ramblings!
This is Mif, signing off :)
